Lecture Summary: The US healthcare quality improvement movement has developed over time in order to monitor, quantify and incentivize. This lecture will discuss the history of the quality improvement movement, identify what resources are needed to build and maintain and effective quality program and to discuss why it is important for physicians to participate in quality initiatives in order to control which metrics they will be judged against.
