Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky was born in Minsk, Belarus and at the age of 10 immigrated with his family to the United States in search of religious freedom. Dr. Shaknovsky grew up in Chicago land area and attended Loyola University Chicago for his undergraduate degree. During his sophomore year of college Dr. Shaknovskly joined the U.S Army shortly after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. He received his medical degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. During his medical training Dr. Shaknovsky developed a passion for helping patients overcome their ailments with surgical intervention. He pursued a residency in General Surgery and completed this training at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. Dr. Shaknovsky completed Burn Surgery/Wound Care fellowship at John Stroger Hospital in Chicago, Illinois during his surgical residency. After completing residency Dr. Shaknovsky pursued his passion to master latest surgical techniques and completed Minimally Invasive/Flexible Endoscopy and Robotic Surgery fellowship at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York.
Dr. Shaknovsky has been practicing General Surgery for the past four years in southeast Alabama. Having spent time on Florida’s Emerald Coast through various military training exercises Dr. Shaknovsky is now excited to relocate to the area and continue his surgical practice.
Dr. Shaknovsky is active in clinical research and has authored many scientific papers. He performs a wide variety of surgical procedures with extensive training in minimally invasive/robotic surgery, endoscopy, wound care and dialysis access. Dr. Shaknovsky continues to serve in US Army Reserve and is currently in the rank of Major. He is married with three kids and in his free time enjoys outdoor activities with his family such as fishing and hiking.
