Rachel Stein, D.O., PGY-2 Neurosurgery Resident, University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Rachel was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA into a loving and large Italian family; however, most of her years were spent growing up in Richmond, VA. Deciding to pursue medicine in her Junior year of high school, she attended Virginia Tech majoring in Biochemistry. Rachel was given the opportunity to learn medicine in Spartanburg, SC at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas Campus. She discovered her passion for neurosurgery in her 3rd year of medical school. Most of her intern year of training was spent at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville until transferring to finish training in Memphis, TN with the Semmes-Murphey Clinic/University of Tennessee program. Rachel is genuinely fascinated by all the subspecialties of neurosurgery but has a budding interest in pediatric neurosurgery.
