J. Bracken Burns, Jr. DO, FACS, FACOS is a Professor of Surgery at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University (ETSU). Dr. Burns further serves at the Director of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at Johnson City Medical Center, a state designated Level 1 trauma center. Dr. Burns is also the Corporate Trauma Medical Director for Ballad Health. Additionally Dr. Burns is an Associate Program Director for the Surgery Residency at ETSU and a member of the Board of Governors for the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. Dr. Burns is a graduate of LECOM (Erie) and did his internship and residency at OUCOM Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Burns did his fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the University of Cincinnati. He practiced acute care surgery as a member of the faculty at University of Florida COM - Jacksonville for 8.5 years before taking on his current position at ETSU.
